Born in a small town, Rebecca did well in school and was always popular, but she always dreamed of getting out of the rural environment and experiencing more than small-town life had to offer. The only child of a single, working mother, she did her best to be the ideal daughter, but she vowed that she would never end up like her mother: lonely, broke, and desperate. Or--for that matter--knocked up and worn out.
In high school, she dated the local minister’s son, partly because she knew his Bible-thumping, fire-and-brimstone preaching father had instilled enough of the fear of God--or the fear of unplanned pregnancy and venereal disease--into him to keep him from getting too carried away, even with a prom-queen like herself. The other reason was because she’d always had a vested curiosity about heaven, hell, and everything in between.
When graduation came around, the preacher’s son went off to cemetery--that is to say seminary school--and Rebecca, who was not quite ready to settle down, decided to finally go and see the world. She spent a few years after high school studying abroad, learning to speak a second language, dabbling in world religion and exploring her sensuality. Eventually, she decided to return to the States, and found the perfect balance between business and pleasure working as a flight attendant out of California.
Lately, however, she has been plagued with vivid and recurring nightmares--the kind she remembers having as a child--full of angelic and demonic beings; and she’s begun to wonder if it’s just the jet lag finally getting to her, or if there is something much more serious going on.
Instead of revealing herself as a double agent, the witch turned demon known as Ruby abandoned her "recycled" vessel--knowing that Sam's brother would never let her live when he realized what she has done--and took possession of another unsuspecting victim instead. She then assumed the woman's identity, that of a red haired hotel manager named Rebecca Rice, and spent the next two years traveling on Rebecca's dime, never saying in one place for long--doing her best to stay off the radar and avoid retaliation from either heaven, or hell, or the brothers Winchester.
Ruby has somewhat adopted her vessel's typical, bubbly nature, and sparkling wit; adapting it with a dash of her own, special cynicism. The ruthless ambition is still there, as is the sarcasm. She has also kept up her kickboxing skills--spending healthy amounts of time at the gym, in spite of having the body of a porn star, and really no human need to work out. She may also be seen to socialize at bars and nightclub on occasion, doing her best not to stand out or draw attention to herself by being either too much of a party girl or too much of a recluse. It's all part of her cover as an ordinary, career oriented, vanilla individual.
However, she is still very much a demon; as self serving, manipulative, and power hungry as the witch called Ruby was in life. She lies, or manipulates the truth to suit her as she pleases, and she has really no conscience to speak of. She can seem loyal, and may in fact actually believe that she is different than other demons, but in the end, the only person she can really fool is herself.
